How Do I Create An Auto-Responder?

If you wish to create an email auto-responder that goes to the person who filled out your form or to a customer of yours, you're in the right place.

If you wish to create a lead alert that goes to you, use
this guide.

How to create an auto-responder

To create an auto-responder, we'll use Zapier.

Zapier is an integrations provider with a generous free plan, and will allow plenty of flexibility in creating our auto-responder.

1.) Follow our generic Zapier guide

First, get set up on Zapier by following our generic guide to Zapier here.

You'll need to follow steps 1-7 before coming back here.

2.) Choose "Email by Zapier"

Next, search for email and choose "Email by Zapier" to get to Zapier's email sending integration:

You should set the action event to "Send outbound email" before hitting "Continue".

3.) Configure your email in Zapier

Now, you can configure your email using a mix of hardcoded text and merge fields.

In the following example, we'll email the person who submitted the lead an email receipt. If you wanted to use Zapier to send emails to a customer, just add their email address in the "To" field instead:

4.) Save your Zap

Finally, hit "Save and test", and don't forget to turn on your Zap - and you're done!

5.) Read this!

Zapier works by hitting our servers every 15 minutes and asking "Do you have any more leads?". Therefore, it's normal and expected behaviour that emails will take between 1 minute and 15 minutes to send.

Zapier do have professional plans starting from $49 per month that allow polling every 2 minutes rather than 15 minutes.
